Statewide Procedural Framework
California operates the most standardized court form system in the United States, administered by the Judicial Council of California. Forms carry alphanumeric prefixes by category: CIV (Civil), FL (Family Law), UD (Unlawful Detainer), PROB (Probate), and SC (Small Claims). Forms marked 'Adopted for Mandatory Use' cannot be substituted. All 58 California Superior Courts maintain mandatory e-filing through certified Electronic Filing Service Providers (EFSPs).

- Fee Waiver Applications: If indigent, file the state-approved In Forma Pauperis financial affidavit concurrently with your initial complaint or petition.
- Electronic Filing: Comply with mandatory e-filing rules and PDF/A technical resolution standards through the state's certified electronic filing provider.
